San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (28-21-7-3, 66pts) presented by Barracuda Networks defeated the San Diego Gulls (33-22-2-2, 70pts) by the score of 3-0 in front 6,731 fans at SAP Center on Saturday night in game four of a season long six game home stand. The two clubs do battle again at SAP Center on Sunday at 3pm.
Nikolay Goldobin and Joakim Ryan each scored on the power play and Trevor Parkes added an empty netter. Aaron Dell made 26 saves for his 2nd shutout of the season while Bryan Lerg added three assists and Jeremy Morin had two helpers as the Barracuda picked up their first win of the season vs. the Gulls at SAP Center this season.
Nikolay Goldobin (17th) struck on the power play as he skated across the circles and snapped a wicked shot past goaltender Anton Khudobin at 13:23 for the only score in the opening frame. Shots were 10-6 San Jose as the Barracuda took a goal lead into the first intermission.
Neither team found the back of the net in the middle frame as Aaron Dell and Anton Khudobin kept the door shut in net. Shots were 12-8 in favor of San Jose in the second period as the Barracuda took a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
Rookie Joakim Ryan (2nd) sent a blast from the center point at 1:19 of the third period with John McCarthy on top of the crease to give the Barracuda a 2-0 edge. Aaron Dell made 12 more saves in the final frame and Trevor Parkes (15th) added an empty netter at 19:23 as the Barracuda earned the 3-0 home victory.

Bryan Lerg ( 3 assists) now has a three game point streak (1-4-5)…Jeremy Morin (2 assists) now has a three game streak (1-3-4)…San Jose is now 1-3-0-1 vs. the Gulls at SAP Center this season…Karl Stollery picked up a fighting major in the third period vs. Corey Tropp.
