BARRACUDA EARN POINT IN 3-2 OVERTIME LOSS AT TEXASJan 23, 2018
CEDAR PARK, TX - The San Jose Barracuda (19-16-1-2) allowed a late goal in regulation before falling, 3-2, to the Texas Stars (23-15-4-2) in overtime at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first in which neither team took a penalty and Texas led 13-to-10 in shots, Alex True (6) snapped a 12-game goalless drought and opened up the scoring at 2:41 of the second after Jon Martin found the rookie forward uncovered in the low slot from below the goal line. After killing off a pair of Stars power plays, Texas still managed to tie the score when Roope Hintz (13) snuck a shot from below the right circle through Antoine Bibeau's five-hole. San Jose recaptured its lead late in the frame off the stick off Marcus Sorensen (7) who followed up his blocked shot and beat Landon Bow on the left side.
In the third, San Jose was called for hooking at 18:34, up 2-1, and on the power play with their net pulled the Stars tied the game on a redirect by Bryan Flynn (11) in the slot.
In overtime, Flynn (12) would complete the comeback by steering a zone-entry pass from Justin Dowling over Bibeau's left shoulder, handing San Jose its first overtime loss of the season.
Bibeau (12-7-1) suffered his first loss in his last five games after allowing three goals on 33 shots, while Bow (15-8-3) notched the win by making 28 saves on 30 shots.
