BARRACUDA EDGE CONDORS IN OT, 2-1

Mar 2, 2018

SAN JOSE - The San Jose Barracuda (23-22-3-3) allowed a goal 11 seconds into Friday's Cuda Classroom Day against the Bakersfield Condors (21-21-8-1), but would comeback, winning 2-1 in overtime at SAP Center in front of 4,944 screaming fans.

The Condors took a 1-0 lead on their first shot of the game just 11 seconds in as Zach O'Brien crossed a pass to Joey LaLeggia (9) who fired a shot under Antoine Bibeau's left arm. Adam Helewka had a chance to even the score in the first at 14:45 on a penalty shot but Laurent Brossoit turned away Helewka's goal bid with his blocker to preserve Bakersfield's lead.

In the second, the Barracuda evened the score when Julius Bergman (7) wired a right-point slapper past Brossoit on the power play at 10:15.

Despite a combined nine penalties in the third period, the game remained tied through regulation, but in overtime, Helewka connected with Rourke Chartier(5) at 3:04 of the extra session, snapping San Jose's four-game losing skid.

Bibeau (15-11-2) collected the win by making 23 saves on 24 shots, while Brossoit (6-5-3) took the hard-luck loss after giving up two goals on 37 shots.
