BARRACUDA EDGE REIGN, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 11

Feb 18, 2017

San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (30-11-3-1) earned their AHL-leading ninth shutout victory and their 11th overall win in a row by beating the Ontario Reign (26-13-8-0), 2-0, at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday night.

Troy Grosenick (18-11-1) made 20 saves to claim his seventh shutout of the season, which leads the AHL.

San Jose netted the only goal of the opening period as Buddy Robinson found Adam Helewka (12) streaking down the middle of the ice on an odd-man rush and Helewka faked out Jack Campbell with a forehand-to-backhand move at 9:14.

In the second, San Jose jumped out to a 2-0 advantage after John McCarthy (12) redirected a Joakim Ryan Shot at 11:48. Moments later, Patrick McNally beat Campbell again with a top-shelf shot, but the goal was called off for goaltender interference.

In the third, San Jose outshot Ontario 17-to-2 and rolled to the shutout win.
