BARRACUDA FEND OFF STARS, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 12

San Jose, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (31-11-1-3) scored three power-play goals and used 28 Troy Grosenick saves to beat the Texas Stars (24-22-1-2) at SAP Center on Monday afternoon, extending San Jose's winning streak to 12 games in a row. The victory was Grosenick's tenth straight and San Jose's sixth consecutive at home. The win moves the Barracuda into first place in the AHL for the first time in franchise history (.717).
 
In his return to the San Jose Barracuda lineup after a pair of games with the Sharks, Nikolay Goldobin (14) scored his third goal in as many games just seven seconds into San Jose's first power-play from atop the right circle at 5:39. John McCarthy made it two-for-two on the man advantage as Barclay Goodrow gave San Jose's Captain the puck in the low-slot and McCarthy chipped it over Justin Peters right shoulder at 9:50. The Stars cut the lead in half on their first power play as Ludwig Bystrom (1) jumped down to the bottom of the left circle from the left point and ripped the cross-ice pass off the far post and in at 11:36. Remi Elie (8) tied the game as a fired a the puck past Grosenick from the high slot on a one-on-two at 15:24. But McCarthy (14) netted his second of the game with just 22 seconds left in the frame from the below the circles to give San Jose the 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission.
 
In the second, Danny O'Regan (15) waited one minute and three seconds into the period to push the Barracuda back up by two as he fired a shot from the right hash past Peters, ending the netminder's night after allowing four goals on 14 shots. Bystrom (2) buried his second goal of the game as he streaked down the right wing and snuck the shot short side under Troy Grosenick's glove at 5:07.
 
Nick Ebert took an interference penalty at 10:22 of the third and O'Regan (16) received a pass from Marcus Sorensen before going top shelf at 10:28 from close range on Maxime Lagace.
 
Peters (9-9-0) took the loss for Texas, while Lagace allowed one goal on 15 shots in 14 minutes and 42 seconds of relief. Grosenick earned his 19th win.
