BARRACUDA NEED OT TO WIN THEIR SEVENTH IN A ROW

Feb 11, 2017

San Jose, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (26-11-1-3) needed extra time on Saturday to extend their winning streak to seven games, but in overtime, Joakim Ryan sniped a shot past Jonas Gustavsson to earn a 4-3 win over the Bakersfield Condors (19-18-5-1) at Rabobank Arena. The win was San Jose's sixth straight on the road and second in Bakersfield in four tries.

Buddy Robinson (9) opened up the scoring in the first and gave San Jose a 1-0 lead as he snuck behind the Condors defense and beat Gustavsson short side at 3:24. A minute and six seconds later Josh Currie (9) tied the game after Taylor Beck's shot from along the goal line defected off Mantas Armalis's left pad and into the slot where Currie fired the loose puck into the net. On their second power play of the game, Bakersfield's Patrick Russell (4) redirected a shot from Greg Chase at 15:20 to give the Condors their first lead.

In the second period, Jesse Puljurarvi (5) extended Bakersfield's advantage to 3-1 just 33 seconds into the period on a breakaway, but Robinson (10) cut the lead back to one with a top-shelf rip from below the hashes at 1:27.

In the final frame, John McCarthy (11) backhanded a Barclay Goodrow pass passed Gustavsson on a second attempt to tie the game 3-3 at 1:38 and despite outshooting Bakersfield 12-to-4 in the period, extra time was needed.

In overtime, Puljurarvi was denied by Armalis on a breakaway and moments later Joakim Ryan (6) fired the game winner short side on a two-on-one at 2:51.

Armalis (11-3-2) made 17 saves to earn the win in his first start since January 21, while Gustavsson suffered the loss after giving up four goals on 32 shots
