Barracuda Pick Up First Shutout Of The Season In 5-0 Home Win Over Rampage

San Jose, CA -  Aaron Dell made 30 saves as the San Jose Barracuda (21-16-5-3, 50pts) presented by Barracuda Networks picked up an impressive 5-0 victory over the visiting San Antonio Rampage (22-22-7-0, 51pts) on Pink in the Rink Day presented by Kaiser Permanente in front of 4,696 fans at SAP Center on Saturday afternoon. 

Ben Smith scored twice while Patrick McNally, Nikita Jevpalovs, and Bryan Lerg also struck for San Jose as goaltender Aaron Dell made 30 saves in net for the franchise’s 1st shutout.  Trevor Parkes added two assists as the Barracuda improved to 2-0-0-0 on their three game home stand which ends on Sunday at 3pm vs. the Bakersfield Condors.
                                                                                                                          
San Jose fired 20 shots in the first period and grabbed a 1-0 lead at 10:48 as Ben Smith (4th) deflected home a Nikolay Goldobin shot past goaltender Roman Will on the power play.  Shots were 20-8 in favor of San Jose through 20 minutes of play.

The Barracuda went ahead 2-0 as Patrick McNally (1st) scored his 1st professional goal with a quick shot from the left point with bodies in front at 2:25 of the second period.  Nikita Jevpalovs (3rd) gave San Jose a 3-0 lead after he drove to the front of the net and found a rebound on top of the crease at 10:24.  Aaron Dell had 18 saves through 40 minutes of play.

Ben Smith (5th) struck again at 4:26 of the third period with a burst of speed to break away on Roman Will to give San Jose a 4-0 lead.  Bryan Lerg (12th) capped the scoring at 11:25 with a nifty backhander to give the Barracuda a 5-0 advantage.  Aaron Dell made 12 more saves in the third period to give the Barracuda the 5-0 home victory.

San Jose went 1-for-3 on the power play while San Antonio went 0-for-1…. Frazer McLaren (inj), Raffi Torres (rest), Alex Gallant (inj), Rick Pinkston, Daniel Doremus, and Mark Cundari (inj) did not dress for the Barracuda…before the game, San Jose Councilmember Raul Peralez presented head coach Roy Sommer with a proclamation to recognize his 637th career victory… the Barracuda wore pink jerseys presented by Kaiser Permanente to raise money for Cancer CAREpoint….Bryan Lerg (2-2-4), Ben Smith (4-1-5), and Nikolay Goldobin (0-3-3) all have a three game point streak…Aaron Dell has 80 saves in his last two games…Trevor Parkes added two assists.
