BARRACUDA RECALL DEFENSEMAN DAVID MAKOWSKI FROM ALLEN

SAN JOSE - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has recalled Defenseman David Makowski (@David_Makowski) from the Allen Americans (@AllenAmericans), its ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate.
 
Among defensemen in 2017-18, Makowski ranks second in the ECHL in points (53), T-fourth in goals (14), T-first in assists (43), eighth in plus/minus (+23), and sixth in penalty minutes (133).
 
Over a four-year professional career, the blueliner has skated in 196 ECHL games with the Americans and Wheeling Nailers, collecting 160 points (51 goals, 109 assists), 390 penalty minutes and a plus-59 rating. During his rookie season, Makowski appeared in seven AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
 
In 2015-16, the native of Wildwood, Missouri, helped lead the Americans to an ECHL Championship (Kelly Cup) by collecting 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) in 18 playoff games. In 54 games with the Americans during the regular season, Makowski tallied 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists) and 101 penalty minutes and led all ECHL defenseman in goals. 
 
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound undrafted defender played four seasons at the University of Denver and was the team's captain during his senior campaign in 2013-14. During his junior career, Makowski won a USHL Championship (Clarke Cup) with the Green Bay Gamblers and was named USHL Defenseman of the Year in 2009-10.
