BARRACUDA RECALL STEPHON WILLIAMS FROM ALLEN

SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Stephon Williams from the Allen Americans (@AllenAmericans), its East Coast Hockey League (@ECHL) affiliate.
 
Williams, 24, has appeared in five games this season for the Americans going 1-2-0 with the 2.92 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. The Fairbanks, Alaska native was signed by the Barracuda to a one-year AHL contract on Sept. 13, 2017. In 24 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) last year, Williams went 6-13-1 with a .891 save percentage and a 3.08 goals-against average. Williams also appeared in eight games for the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL) where he went 3-4-0 with a .916 save percentage and a 2.69 goals-against.
 
In 58 career AHL games over three seasons with the Sound Tigers, affiliate of the New York Islanders, Williams accumulated a 24-27-2 mark with a .899 save percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average.
 
In 2012-13, as a freshman at Minnesota State (WCHA), Williams went 31-12-2 (12th in the country in winning percentage - .667) with a .924 save percentage (13th in the country) and a 2.00 goals-against average (sixth in the country), earning WCHA Rookie of the Year honors.
 
Over three seasons at Minnesota State, Williams helped lead the Mavericks to two WCHA titles (2013-14, 2014-15), and finished as the schools all-time leader in wins (51), save percentage (.917), and goals-against average (2.01).
 
The six-foot-two, 190-pound goaltender was originally drafted by the Islanders in fourth round (106th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
