BARRACUDA SIGN FORWARD COLBY MCAULEY

May 9, 2017

SAN JOSE, CALIF. - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), presented by Barracuda Networks (@barracuda), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the team has signed forward Colby McAuley (@CMcAuley_93) to a two-year AHL entry-level contract beginning in 2017.

"We really like Colby's competitive nature and energy, plus, he had some good production during his junior career," said Will. "He's a leader, and that's why he was a captain for two seasons."

The 20-year-old McAuley has appeared in four games for the Barracuda after signing an ATO (Amateur Tryout Agreement) following the conclusion of his junior career on April 9. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada has two assists in four games played with the Barracuda.

During a three-year stint in the WHL (Western Hockey League), McAuley skated in 191 games for the Prince George Cougars and recorded 96 points (44 goals, 52 assists), 318 penalty minutes, a plus-17 rating and twice was an alternate captain (2015-17) for the Cougars. McAuley's 156 penalty minutes in 2015-16 led the WHL.

The Barracuda continue their best-of-7 Divisional Round final with the San Diego Gulls on Wednesday, May 10 (7 PM) at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
