BARRACUDA TRAP CONDORS 4-1

BARRACUDA TRAP CONDORS 4-1

Dec 28, 2016

Bakersfield, CA - The San Jose Barracuda played their first game on the road since December 4 but carried over the momentum collected during their home stand by topping the Bakersfield Condors, 4-1, at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield.

The win was San Jose's third straight and sixth-straight game with a point. The Barracuda have now earned points in 11 of their last 12 games.

Nikolay Goldobin (6) potted his third goal in his last three contests as Marcus Sorensen sprung the speedy winger on a breakaway with a stretch pass from the Barracuda line and Goldobin snapped a quick shot top shelf short side at 4:08. Barclay Goodrow (11) gave the Barracuda the 2-0 advantage on his team's second power play as he drove to the net from below the right circle and jammed the puck past Nick Ellis at 11:51.

The Barracuda took a 3-0 lead at 6:50 of the second period after Jon Martin slipped a tape-to-tape pass from the right wing to Danny O'Regan (8) who tapped the puck passed Ellis. The Barracuda looked poised to have a 3-0 nod heading into the third period, but a failed defensive zone clear led to Scott Allen (4) sniping a shot past Troy Grosenick from the high slot at 19:57.

In the third period, Grosenick made 11 saves, and Adam Helewka (8) scored on an empty net to secure a 4-1 victory.

Grosenick (7-4-2) made 28 saves on the night, and Ellis (4-4-2) suffered the loss after allowing four goals on 21 shots.

San Jose killed off all seven Condors power plays and now have killed off 15 straight on the PK.
