Tonight:
The San Jose Barracuda and the Ontario Reign (AHL affiliate of the LA Kings) meet for the 6th of 12 meetings this season, the 2nd of six meetings at the SAP Center.  The Barracuda are 1-2-2-0 vs. the Reign this season and are 1-2-2-0 in 5 career matchups. San Jose has lost three straight games (0-2-0-1) but are still 15-5-5-2 in their last 27 games and currently rank 2nd in Pacific Division trailing the Ontario Reign.  Ontario has won three straight games and currently lead the entire Western Conference with a .681 winning percentage.  Barracuda head coach Roy Sommer (635 wins) looks to tie Fred “Bun” Cook (636 wins) for the most wins in the 80 year history of the AHL with a victory tonight.

Military Appreciation Night: The Barracuda are wearing a special camouflage jersey tonight which will be auctioned off during the game to benefit Defending the Blue Line.  The “blind” auction will take place by section 116 and will end at the start of the third period.

In case you missed it…
The San Jose Barracuda (18-11-5-3, 44pts) presented by Barracuda Networks gave up a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes and dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the host Ontario Reign (23-10-2-1, 49pts) in front of  8,299 fans at the Citizens Bank Arena on Friday evening. Goaltender Aaron Dell (6-7-5) made 31 saves while Karl Stollery and Trevor Parkes scored 1st period goals for the Barracuda as San Jose is now to 9-2-5-0 in their last 16 games.  Ontario scored twice in the third period, including the game tying goal with just 1:32 left on their 7th power play of the game and with the extra attacker on the ice.  Nic Dowd (9th) won the game just 28 seconds into the extra frame with a wicked shot on an odd man to complete the comeback and Peter Budaj made 20 saves in net for his AHL leading 21st win of the season.

Barracuda Bites…
*Transactions…Raffi Torres was loaned to the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment from the SJ Sharks on Jan 14 and made his debut in the Barracuda’s win in Rockford on Jan 15.  Torres played two games last week and did not register a point for the Barracuda and remains with the club but has missed the last two games. Forward Alex Gallant signed a standard player AHL contract for the rest of the season and for the 2016-17 season after he played 15 games on a PTO from the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL). Forward Greger Hanson was released from his PTO on Jan 18 and was returned to the Allen Americans (ECHL) and forward Ben Smith was loaned to the Barracuda on Jan 21 from the SJ Sharks.
