Barracuda vs. San Diego Gulls Preview

Today:
The San Jose Barracuda and the San Diego Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks) meet for the 3rd of 12 meetings this season, the 3rd of six meetings at the SAP Center.  The Barracuda are 0-1-0-1 vs. the Gulls this season and are 0-1-0-1 in two career matchups. The Barracuda host game two of a three game home stand today before embarking on a season long seven game road trip next week.  The Gulls wrap up a quick two game road trip today as they look to go a perfect 3-0 at the SAP Center.  Today marks the first of 13 Barracuda/Sharks doubleheaders at the SAP Center this season as the Sharks host the Ducks tonight at 7:30pm.

In case you missed it…
The San Jose Barracuda (3-3-0-1, 7pts) presented by Barracuda Networks got their first home win in franchise history with a thrilling 4-2 victory over the visiting Ontario Reign (5-1-2-0, 12pts) in front of 4,039 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon. Aaron Dell got his third win of the season with 32 saves on 34 shots.  John McCarthy (1-1-2), Mirco Mueller (1-0-1), Jeremy Langlois (1-0-1) and Nikolay Goldobin (1-1-2) all scored for the Barracuda to hand Ontario their first regulation loss of the season.  Peter Budaj made 25 saves in the losing effort while Michael Mersch and Ryan Horvat scored for the Reign as they were playing their 3rd game in three days.

The Gulls dropped a 4-1 decision in Ontario on Thursday night.   Brian McGrattan (1st) scored the only goal for San Diego and picked up a fighting major while John Gibson allowed four goals on 25 shots in the loss. Adrien Kempe recorded a hat trick for the Reign while Peter Budaj made 20 saves in net for the win.
