Today:
The San Jose Barracuda and the Stockton Heat (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames) meet for the 5th of 12 meetings this season, the 3rd of six meetings at the SAP Center.  The Barracuda are 3-0-0-1 vs. the Heat this season and are 3-0-0-1 in four career matchups. San Jose has points in three straight games (1-0-2-0) and is now 7-3-2-2 in their last 14 games overall.  The Heat have lost four of their last five games (1-4-0-0) and have allowed 20 goals in the process to fall to the cellar of the Pacific Division.  Former SJ Sharks forward Freddie Hamilton is tied for the team lead for the Heat with 15 points (7-8-15) in 24 games this season.

In case you missed it…
The San Jose Barracuda (10-9-2-3, 25pts) presented by Barracuda Networks came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the visiting Stockton Heat (9-11-0-2, 20pts) 5-4 in front of 4,181 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon.  Micheal Haley (1-0-1), Barclay Goodrow (1-2-3), Nikolai Goldobin (1-0-1), Gus Young (1-0-1) and Petter Emanuelsson (1-0-1) all scored for the Barracuda in the 5-4 win over the visiting Stockton Heat.  Jeremy Langlois and Joakim Ryan each added two assists as San Jose snapped a three game losing skid.  The Barracuda were trailing 3-0 with nine minutes gone in the second period and came back to score four goals in a span of 3:20.  Troy Grosenick made 26 saves in the win.  Four different players scored for the Heat and goaltender Joni Ortio made 26 saves in the loss.

The Heat returned from the holidays with a 5-3 loss in Bakersfield on Saturday night. Bryce Van Brabant led the way offensively with two goals and an assist while Jakub Nakladal scored a goal and an assist but it wasn’t enough in the road loss. Joni Ortio allowed four goals on 31 shots in the loss.

*Recent transactions… Defenseman Mark Cundari was reassigned by the SJ Sharks from the Barracuda to Team Canada for the Spengler Cup on Dec 22.  Rookie defenseman Rick Pinkston (Dartmouth College) was recalled from the Allen Americans (ECHL) on Dec 26.
