Barracuda vs. Texas Stars Preview

Today:
The San Jose Barracuda and the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) meet for the 2nd of six meetings this season, the 2nd of three meetings at the SAP Center.  The Barracuda are 1-0-0-0 vs. the Stars this season and are 1-0-0-0 in one career matchup. The Barracuda returned home yesterday after a 3-2-0-2 road trip and began a five game home stand with a thrilling 5-4 win over the Stars. San Jose looks for their first three game winning streak of the season with a win this afternoon. The Stars are 2-1-0-0 on their current four game road trip which will end today vs. the Barracuda at the SAP Center. The Barracuda and the Stars meet again on Jan 3 at the SAP Center before the series shifts to Texas for the remaining three games.

In case you missed it…
The San Jose Barracuda (7-7-0-3, 17pts) presented by Barracuda Networks kicked off their five game home stand with a thrilling 5-4 victory over the visiting Texas Stars (11-8-0-1, 23pts) in front of 4,032 fans at the SAP Center on Saturday afternoon.  The Barracuda exploded for four goals in the second period as Nikolay Goldobin scored twice, Joakim Ryan netted his 1st pro goal, and Barclay Goodrow netted his 4th of the season with just 10 seconds remaining in the second frame.  After Texas tied the score late, rookie Julius Bergman scored his first pro goal at 19:12 of the third period to give San Jose the 5-4 win.  Troy Grosenick picked up his 4th win of the season with 26 saves as the Barracuda came back from a pair of two goal deficits for the victory.  Devin Shore set a franchise record for the Stars with goals in six straight games as he netted a pair while Maxime Lagace made 28 saves in net for the loss.

*Recent transactions…defenseman Dylan Demelo and Micheal Haley were loaned to the Barracuda from the Sharks last night after the Sharks 5-2 win over the Flames. Melker Karlsson and Mirco Mueller are currently on recall with the SJ Sharks in the NHL.  Forward Chris Crane was reassigned by the SJ Sharks from the Barracuda to the Allen Americans (ECHL) on Friday morning.
