Barracuda roll into Texas riding a two-game winning streak…

Weekly rewind…

The San Jose Barracuda wrapped up their six-game road trip with a 3-1 loss at Bakersfield last Tuesday, and in the process lost goaltender Troy Grosenick to a right leg injury in the opening period. Grosenick’s injury forced the Barracuda to recall goaltender Jamie Murray from the Allen Americans (ECHL). Mantas Armalis came into the game for Grosenick and allowed two goals on 18 shots, suffering his first regulation loss of the year. Armalis recovered though in San Jose’s next two games, making 31 saves in a 4-1 win on Friday against the Condors at home and then backed up that performance with 22 saves the next night to top the Ontario Reign in Ontario, 5-2, on Saturday. San Jose’s 7-5-0-2 (.571) record is good for fifth in the AHL’s Pacific Division and seventh in the Western Conference.

A look ahead…

The San Jose Barracuda travel to San Antonio to face the Rampage this Saturday (5 p.m. PST) and Sunday (1 p.m. PST) before returning back to SAP Center for seven straight at home. San Jose beat San Antonio, 4-0, at AT&T Center on November 15 and is 2-1-0-0 against the Rampage on the year. San Jose is 2-1-1-0 all-time at San Antonio.

Broadcaster bites…

Tim Heed scored two more goals on Saturday and now has 13 points (4-9-13) through 14 games. A former Defenseman of the Year in the Swedish Hockey League (Salming Trophy), Heed has made the transition to North America almost seamless. Known for his offensive skill set, the 25-year-old has shown a great ability to make a strong first pass in his own end, while jumping up in the rush when needed. Heed is seventh in the AHL in points among defenseman and is tied for second in points on the Barracuda.
