BARRACUDA WIN 6TH IN A ROW BEHIND GROSENICK'S 38 SAVES

San Jose, CA - With first place on the line, the San Jose Barracuda (25-11-1-3) earned their sixth-straight win by topping the San Diego Gulls (24-12-2-2), 2-1, at SAP Center on Wednesday night. San Jose's win snapped San Diego's winning streak at six games and their franchise long 12-game point.
 
In the first period, Adam Helewka (11) intercepted a pass in the defensive zone, raced down the ice and beat Jhonas Enroth short side on a two-on-one at 13:58. Troy Grosenick made all 11 saves he faced, and the Barracuda skated out to the opening-frame lead.
 
Nikita Jevpalovs (7) waited just one minute and 29 seconds to extend San Jose's lead to two as he backhanded a loose puck in the slot past Enroth. Grosenick continued his strong play and held onto his shutout through 40 minutes.
 
In the third, the Barracuda jumped onto their first power play of the night, but Chris Wagner (8) jammed a loose puck past Grosenick during a mad scramble in the crease at 12:26. Despite getting outshot 15-to-6 in the final period, San Jose held on for the win, 2-1.
 
Grosenick (15-8-2) earned his sixth-straight victory by making 38 saves on 39 shots while Enroth (10-2-0) suffered his first loss as a Gull' after allowing two goals on 28 shots.
