BIBEAU NAMED BARRACUDA '18-19 IOA/AMERICAN SPECIALTY AHL MAN OF THE YEAR

Apr 3, 2019

San Jose, CA - The San Jose Barracuda are proud to announce that Antoine Bibeau has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the San Jose community during the 2018-19 season.

Throughout his time in San Jose, Bibeau has quickly become a fan favorite, and someone highly regarded in all levels of the organization. His humble and positive attitude has helped the Barracuda grow immensely this season and his willingness to not only have a strong and consistent presence with the kids in the fan base but also our older fans has been nothing short of impactful. Since October, Antoine has been involved in multiple season ticket holder parties where members could come and meet the team, such as the Meet the 'Cuda party held at Stanley's at Solar4America Ice in San Jose at the beginning of the season.

Another facet of Antoine's dedication to the community is evident through his involvement with core Barracuda community programming such as Barracuda Math Class and 'Cuda Kids Club. Through the Math Class program, Antoine and the Barracuda teach elementary aged students around the Bay Area about the game of hockey while simultaneously practicing their everyday math skills.

This season, the Barracuda also had the opportunity to make appearances at two new events, both of which Antoine volunteered his time for with no hesitation. In November, the Sharks Foundation put on the first ever Board Game Night at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara for the out-patients in the pediatric cancer unit and their families.

Antoine is now one of 31 finalists for the AHL's 2018-19 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League at a later date.
