'CUDA HOLD OFF ROADRUNNERS, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 13

Feb 24, 2017

Tucson, AZ - The San Jose Barracuda (32-11-1-3) needed two unanswered goals in the third to hold off the Tucson Roadrunners (22-20-5-0), 4-3, at the Tucson Convention Center on Friday night. The win extended San Jose's winning streak to 13-straight games and nine in a row on the road.

Buddy Robinson netted his fourth goal as a member of the Barracuda and his 11th overall at 6:28 of the first. The 6-foot-5 forward beat Marek Langhamer top-shelf short side on a two-on-one to give San Jose the opening period lead. Immediately after Robinson's goal, Zach Stortini and Stefan Fournier dropped the mitts at center ice resulting in game misconducts for both players. Laurent Dauphin (10) evened the score with 10 seconds left in the first on a shorthanded two-on-one.

In the second, Timo Meier fed Nikita Jevpalovs (11) in the slot and Jevpalovs fired the puck inside the far right post at 4:55 to give San Jose the lead back at 2-1. With just 1.7 seconds left in the period, Dauphin (11) used his late-period magic again by jamming a loose puck through Troy Grosenick's five-hole to even the score at 2-2.

In the third, Fischer (19) snuck behind the Barracuda defense and beat Grosenick on a breakaway at 1:24 of the third. Rourke Chartier (11) tied the game shorthanded as he fired a puck bar-down short side at 4:02. Marcus Sorensen (15) extended his point streak to nine and picked up what turned out to be the game-winner at 11:44 with a bomb from the top of the right circle on a one-on-two at 11:44.

Grosenick (20-8-2) made 21 saves to earn his 11th-consecutive win, while Langhamer (4-6-1) suffered the loss after allowing four goals on 27 shots.
