Mar 4, 2017

STOCKTON, CALIF. - The San Jose Barracuda (33-12-1-4) saw their 15-game point streak and 10-game road winning streak come to an end on Saturday as they fell to the Stockton Heat (23-23-4-1),4-2, at Stockton Arena.

San Jose captured the opening-period lead as John McCarthy (15) redirected a Tim Heed shot at 3:45, but the Heat evened the scored just seven seconds into their first power play at 6:38 as Matt Frattin (15) fired a short-side shot past Mantas Armalis. At 10:48 Keith Aulie's hard check on Danny O'Regan led to a scrap between Aulie and Buddy Robinson that saw Robinson connect on multiple blows before dropping Aulie.

In the second, Stockton gained its first advantage when Andrew Mangiapane (12) snuck a shot inside the left post from the right wing at 10:26. San Jose earned the only power play of the frame but failed to even the score.

The Heat added to its lead in the third after a San Jose turnover Austin Carroll (7) went top shelf on an unsuspecting Armalis at 5:47 and Mark Jankowski (20) put the game out of reach with an empty-netter at 17:42. Rourke Chartier cut the lead to 4-2 at 19:22, but it was too little too late.

Armalis suffered the loss (12-4-2) after allowing three goals on 20 shots, while David Rittich (9-9-1-4) claimed his first win in three tries against San Jose after making 41 saves on 43 shots.
