Back in Bakersfield: The Barracuda and Condors (Edmonton Oilers) collide for the sixth time on the 10-game season series on Wednesday. The game will wrap up a three-game road trip for the Barracuda and a three-game homestand for the Condors. Bakersfield is 8-0-0-1 over its last nine home games.

 

Condors Cooking: The Condors boast three of the AHL’s top-five point-getters so far this season. Cooper Marody ranks first in the AHL in goals (14) and points (23) and is in the midst of a 13-game point streak (13+8=21). Tyler Benson ranks second in the AHL in scoring (20) and first in assists (15) and has points in 12 of his last 13 games (5+15=20). And Ryan McLeod is tied for fifth in the AHL in points (8+9=17). All three make up a line for Bakersfield.

 

Tale of the Tape: The Barracuda are 28-21-4-4 (H: 16-9-2-2/R: 12-12-2-2) lifetime against the Condors and 1-2-2-0 in 2021 (0-2-1 at the Mechanics Bank Arena). Bakersfield is the AHL’s best first-period team, outscoring its opponents 21-to-9 in the opening 20 minutes this season. The Condors average the AHL’s fourth-most goals-per-game (3.59) and the sixth-fewest goals-against-per-game (2.65). The Condors also average the second most shots-per-game (33.88) and the fourth-fewest shots-against-per-game (26.82). After getting outscored in the first two matchups 10-to-1, the Barracuda are 1-0-2 over the last three matchups against the Condors including a 4-3 win at the SAP Center on St. Patrick’s Day. 

 

Dazzling Danes: Denmark natives Alex True and Joachim Blichfeld co-lead the Barracuda in scoring and Blichfeld ranks tied for second in the AHL in goals (9). Before Sunday’s shutout loss, True had collected points five-straight games (3+4=7).
