Mile-High Matchup: On Saturday, the Barracuda and Colorado Eagles (Colorado Avalanche) square off for the second in as many days. The Barracuda fell 4-2 on Friday to the Eagles and are now 1-2-1-1 all-time at the Budweiser Events Center.

 

Last Time Out: The Barracuda gave up a pair of goals within the first three minutes on Friday, and eventually fell 4-2 to the Colorado Eagles. In the loss, Keaton Middleton and Lean Bergmann scored and Andrew Shortridge suffered his first loss of the season after giving up three goals on 26 shots.

  

Colorado Cooking: After dropping its first two games of the season against the Stockton Heat, the Colorado Eagles have reeled off four wins in a row. Prior to Friday, the Eagles had won all three games in extra time.

 

Call of Duty: The Sharks recalled forward Jonny Brodzinski and defenseman Trevor Carrick before their East Coast road trip that began on Tuesday in Buffalo.

 

Greer Gone: The AHL suspended Eagles forward A.J. Greer for six games after he left the penalty box in his team’s 3-2 overtime win at Milwaukee on Saturday which will make the 22-year-old unavailable for both games against the Barracuda this weekend. Greer initially was penalized for fighting Admiral Josh Healey before he left the penalty box to fight Milwaukee captain Jarred Tinordi. The Avs selected Greer with in the second round (#39 overall) in the 2015 NHL draft.

 

Kellman Cruising: Signed by the Sharks as a free agent on April 25, 2019, Joel Kellman leads the Barracuda in points (5) and assists (4) through five games and is riding a four game point streak. Before this season, Kellman, 25, skated in 196 games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) as a member Karlskrona HK and Brynas IF, collecting 114 points (49 goals, 65 assists), 88 PIMS and a minus-18 rating.

 

El Cap: Barracuda Captain John McCarthy sits just one-point shy of 300 (129 goals, 170 assists) in his pro career. McCarthy is the Barracuda’s all-time leader in games played (262), points (134), goals (58) and assists (76).
