Tonight’s Matchup: On Saturday, the Barracuda wrap up their two-game road trip in Stockton as they take on the Heat for the second time on the 12-game season series. The Barracuda fell 3-2 in a shootout the last time the two teams got together on November 1.

Sam Carrick potted three in the victory for the Gulls and 13 San Diego skaters collected at least one point.

No No(vember): The month of November has not been kind to the Barracuda, since a 3-2 shootout loss at Stockton on November 1, the Barracuda have matched its franchise long for consecutive regulation losses (4 games, 3/1/19 at Ontario thru 3/9/19 vs. Bakersfield) and are just one loss shy of reaching the longest winless streak in franchise history (6 games, 1/16/16 at Iowa thru 1/29/16 at San Antonio (0-4-2-0)).

Sumo: After not recording a point in the Barracuda’s first five games, Antti Suomela has points in three of his last four games, including recording his first multi-goal game of his career on Wednesday at San Diego. Suomela also put a single-game career high of shots on net (8) and was a plus-2 in the loss.

Bergmann is Back: The Sharks assigned Lean Bergmann to the Barracuda prior to Saturday’s game in Bakersfield. The 21-year-old is T-second on the ‘Cuda in points (8) and goals (3) despite playing in just eight games. In addition, his plus-five rating, points-per-game (1.00) and PIMS per-game (2.50) rank tied for first on the Barracuda. Bergmann has also appeared in eight games with the Sharks, totaling one assist.

Kellman Cruising: Signed by the Sharks as a free agent on April 25, 2019, Joel Kellman leads the Barracuda in points (9) and assists (8) through 12 games and his six-game assist streak (7) earlier this season is the longest such streak this year. Before this season, Kellman, 25, skated in 196 games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) as a member Karlskrona HK and Brynas IF, collecting 114 points (49 goals, 65 assists), 88 PIMS and a minus-18 rating.

Youth Movement: The Barracuda are the AHL’s youngest roster with an average age of 22.60-years-old. No other team in the league is under the average age of 23-years-old and the Barracuda have eight players 21-years-old or younger, including two players under 21 (Sasha Chmelevski [20] and Ivan Chekhovich [20]).
