Talking Tuesday: On Tuesday, the Barracuda return home for the first of two games against the Henderson Silver Knights. The Barracuda are 0-2-0-0 against the Golden Knights affiliate this year, getting outscored 9-2 in the two games, but the Barracuda are 4-0 this year when playing at Solar-4-America Ice and 5-0-1-0 over its last six home games. Tuesday’s game marks the first of 10 games at home in the month of April.

 

Knight Watch: The Henderson Silver Knights boast the second-best overall winning percentage (17-4-0-0=.810%) and second-best road winning percentage in the league entering Tuesday (8-3-0-0=.727%). The Knights average 3.48 goals-for-per-game (6th in the AHL) and 2.14 goals-against-per-game (2nd in the AHL). Despite giving up 33.57 shots-against-per-game (3rd most in the AHL), the Silver Knights are 13-4-0-0 this year when getting outshot.

 

Top of the Class: Henderson rookie Jack Dugan ranks tied for eighth in the AHL in points (19), tied for third in assists (16) and tied for second in power-play assists (8). His teammate Dylan Sikura is first in the AHL in power-play goals (6) and Knights defenseman Ryan Murphy ranks first among all AHL blueliners with 15 points (4+11=15). Logan Thomson, Knights’ rookie goaltender, the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for both February and March, is second in the AHL in goals-against average (1.78), first in save percentage (.949), tied for first in wins (11), fifth in minutes played (776) and third in saves (426).

 

Ready for Reedy: The Sharks announced they signed 2017 fourth-round pick Scotty Reedy on Friday to a two-year, entry-level contract after he finished up his senior season at Minnesota. Reedy is expected to join the Barracuda after a three-day quarantine and could make his pro debut as early as Tuesday against Henderson. His Gophers were eliminated from the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament on March 28, 4-0 vs. Minnesota State.

 

Flipflop: On Sunday, the Sharks recalled Josef Korenar to its taxi squad and assigned Alexei Melnichuk to the Barracuda. Melnichuk has not appeared in a game since getting injured at Henderson on March 20. The Sharks signed the undrafted free agent on May 4, 2020, to a two-year, entry-level contract.
