GIFTS AND GOALS 2017

Dec 21, 2017

This past weekend, the San Jose Barracuda held their annual Gifts and Goals event at SAP Center. Each season, Barracuda players are paired with children from School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County in an effort to give children gifts for the holidays which they may not otherwise have the chance to receive.

All of the children from School Health Clinics were invited out to the game on December 17th to watch the Barracuda take on the Bakersfield Condors. Following the Barracuda’s 3-2 victory that evening, the children were then invited to join the Barracuda in the Rink Side Room so they could meet their player pairing and receive their gifts. All of the children and their family members had an opportunity to chat with players, receive autographs and take photographs in the decorated room.

The Gifts and Goals event has been around since the inaugural season in 2015 and since its creation players have purchased close to $8,000 worth of clothing and toys. This season, with the help of team captain John McCarthy and reigning Barracuda Man of the Year Troy Grosenick, the Barracuda once again maintained 100% player participation this season.

Since 1986, School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County has been provided easily accessible, quality health care to low income infants, children and adolescents on school campuses. Their clinics are located at schools in four districts in east San Jose and Gilroy. These clinics are open to all low income children and young adults from birth to age 24 in Santa Clara County.
