SHARKS ASSIGN DEFENSEMAN PAUL MARTIN TO BARRACUDA

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned Defenseman Paul Martin to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL). 
 
"Paul Martin has been a tremendous member of our organization since the moment he arrived," said Wilson. "His leadership, high-level of play and character have been a positive influence on our club. We're pleased that Paul remains a member of our organization and we hope that our players on the Barracuda are able to learn from Paul's professionalism."
 
Martin has played in three games for the Sharks this season, posting a minus-four rating, one shot on goal and averaging 13:17 in ice time.
 
Playing in four games for the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment earlier this season, Martin recorded an assist, plus-one rating and four shots on goal.
 
A 14-year NHL veteran, Martin has skated in 859 games while registering 50 goals, 268 assists and a plus-119 rating. He has played in 162 games for the San Jose Sharks, tallying seven goals, 39 assists and a plus-19 rating.
 
The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Minneapolis, Minnesota was originally drafted in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2000 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He was signed as a free agent by San Jose on July 1, 2015.
