ONTARIO'S BRODZINSKI NETS HAT-TRICK, LIFTS REIGN OVER SJ

Nov 1, 2017

ONTARIO, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (3-5-0-1) allowed three first-period goals and couldn't manage a comeback, falling 4-2 to the Ontario Reign (2-6-0-0) at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday night.

After an early onslaught by Ontario, Matt Luff (1) cashed in on his team's strong start as the rookie forward ripped a wrister from the high-slot passed a screened Antoine Bibeauat 8:08. Johnny Brodzinski (1) netted his first of the year with a perfectly placed snapshot over the right shoulder of Bibeau as he received a drop pass from T.J. Hensick entering the zone down the right-wing at 17:03. Brodzinski (2) netted his second of the game from the top of the crease less than two minutes later at 19:13 after San Jose turned the puck over in its end.

In the second, the Barracuda cut Ontario's lead to two as Alex True (3) redirected a Cavan Fitzgerald point-shot past Jack Campbell on the man-advantage at 8:41.

In the final frame, Brandon Mashinter (3) got San Jose within one as he slipped a wrist shot past Campbell after Olivier Archambault set the winger up down the left side of the slot. San Jose's comeback hopes were dashed when Brodzinski (3) intercepted a Barracuda clearing attempt and fired the puck into the empty night at 19:08 after Bibeau had left for an extra attacker, completing the hat-trick.

Bibeau (1-3) took the loss after allowing three goals on 33 shots, while Campbell (2-3) earned his second-straight win by making 22 saves on 24 shots.
