BARRACUDA EDGE GRIFFINS IN SHOOTOUT, 1-0

Mar 11, 2017

SAN JOSE, CALIF. - The San Jose Barracuda (35-12-2-4) and Grand Rapids Griffins (38-17-1-3) failed to score in 65 minutes of play on Saturday night at SAP Center but in a shootoutKevin Labanc and Danny O'Regan each beat Griffins netminder Jared Coreau to earn the two points and the 1-0 victory.

The Barracuda outshot the Griffins in each period and twice had close-range chances in the third but couldn't find the net. In overtime, a San Jose miscue led to an Eric Tangradi breakaway, but Grosenick denied the chance.

In the shootout, the first three shooters were turned aside, but Labanc's sensational close range dangle dropped Coreau on his chest before lifting the puck into the open net. Matt Lorito had countered for the Griffs before Danny O'Regan won the game with a five-hole shot.

The Barracuda take on the San Diego Gulls (1:15 PM) on Sunday, March 12 in game one of the doubleheader with the San Jose Sharks.
