BARRACUDA ALLOW THREE THIRD-PERIOD GOALS, FALL 4-2 IN GR

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Up 2-1 in the third, the San Jose Barracuda (1-2) allowed three unanswered goals to the Grand Rapids Griffins and failed to comeback, falling, 4-2, at Van Andel Arena in game three of the best-of-7 Western Conference Finals. The win for the Griff's moves Grand Rapids ahead in the series, and a improves their home record in the postseason to 5-0.
 
John McCarthy (2) opened up the scoring and gave the Barracuda a first-period lead at 5:19 as he picked off a Grand Rapids clearing attempt and beat Jared Coreau with a forehand-to-backhand move. Nathan Paetsch (1) evened the score by firing a loose puck past Troy Grosenick from the low slot at 13:47, but a minute and 13 seconds later Ryan Carpenter (9) snapped a shot past Coreau as he streaked down the right wing to give San Jose its lead back at 2-1.
 
After a scoreless second, Matt Lorito (5) tied the score as he snuck a rebound just inside the left post on the power play at 6:40 and then Mitch Callahan (5) gave Grand Rapids their first lead by poking a loose puck under Grosenick and passed the goal line. Tomas Nosek (6) sealed the Grand Rapids victory with an empty-netter at 19:01.
 
Grosenick (8-5) took the loss after allowing three goals on 41 shots while Coreau (9-2) earned the win after making 31 saves on 33 shots.
 
The San Jose Barracuda continue their quest for the Calder Cup on Friday, May 26 (4 PM PST) as they take on the Grand Rapids Griffins in game four of their best-of-7 Western Conference Finals matchup at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
