San Jose Barracuda Announce Hockey Staff for 2015-16 Season

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda) presented by Barracuda Networks (@barracuda) and Barracuda General Manager Joe Will officially announced today the 2015-16 San Jose Barracuda hockey staff.

Oakland, CA native Roy Sommer will serve as the head coach for the Barracuda for the 2015-16 season, marking Sommer’s 18th season as head coach of San Jose’s American Hockey League development affiliate. Sommer holds the AHL record for most games coached (1,344) and is poised to become the League’s all-time winningest coach (617 wins), trailing only Hockey Hall of Famer Fred “Bun” Cook (636).

Ryan Mougenel returns for his second season as the assistant coach for the San Jose Sharks top development team and Charlie Townsend will return for a third season as the team’s video coach. 

Chris Davidson-Adams enters his sixth season as the head equipment manager for San Jose’s top affiliate. Last season Davidson-Adams was behind the bench for his 1,000th game as a professional hockey equipment manager on December 26, 2014 vs. the Manchester Monarchs. Scott Eastman will begin his 1st season as the assistant equipment manager after spending the last six years as the equipment manager for the University of Alaska Fairbanks men’s hockey team.  Marley Sommer will enter his first season as the locker room attendant after spending the last several years with the Worcester Sharks equipment staff at various capacities.

Pleasanton, CA native Chris Wolfinger joins the club as the head athletic trainer after gaining experience with the San Francisco Giants organization and previously serving as an intern for the San Jose Sharks athletic training staff.  Sunnyvale, CA native Brian Ganz will enter his first full season as the Barracuda strength and conditioning assistant after previously serving as the San Jose Sharks part-time strength and conditioning assistant as well as working as a personal trainer throughout the Bay Area.

In addition, Dirk Graham, Bryan Marchment, Evgeni Nabokov, Mike Ricci, and Niklas Sundstrom will serve as development coaches for the 2015-16 season.
