SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned Defenseman Tim Heed and Forward Rudolfs Balcers (@rudolfsbalcers) to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL).
The 27-year-old Heed has recorded three goals, eight assists and 50 shots on goal in 27 NHL games with the Sharks this season. He has also played in one game with the Barracuda, posting a +1 rating and four penalty minutes.
In 2016-17, he was named to the AHL's Second All-Star Team after ranking 3rd amongst all AHL blueliners in assists.
The six-foot, 185-pound native of Goteborg, Sweden, was originally drafted in the fifth round (132nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. He was signed as a free agent by San Jose on May 24, 2016.
Balcers, in his first season of professional hockey, is the Barracuda's leading scorer with 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 44 games. The 20-year-old was selected to represent the Barracuda at the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic.
The five-foot-eleven, 175-pound native of Liepaja, Latvia was selected by San Jose in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
