SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) general manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Nicolas Meloche from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL).

Meloche, 22, has skated in 38 games for the Barracuda this season, recording six assists and 40 shots. This is his first recall to the Sharks.

During the 2018-19 campaign, Meloche recorded 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) for the Colorado Eagles across 55 games, finishing tied for first among Eagles blueliners in goals and second in points. He also registered two assists in four contests for the Eagles in the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Meloche split the 2017-18 season with the AHL San Antonio Rampage and the ECHL Colorado Eagles, appearing in 63 total games between both clubs. He helped the Eagles to the Kelly Cup in their final ECHL season before moving up to the AHL, registering one goal in five games for Colorado.

Prior to his professional career, the defenseman spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), collecting 139 points (45 goals, 94 assists) over 212 contests.

The six-foot-three, 205-pound native of LaSalle, Quebec was originally selected by Colorado (2nd round, 40th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft. He was acquired by San Jose in exchange for goaltender Antoine Bibeau on September 27, 2019.
