SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) general manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Maxim Letunov from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL).

Letunov, 23, has appeared in 39 games for the Barracuda this season, recording 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists), 10 penalty minutes and two game-winning goals. This is his first recall to the Sharks.

Prior to his professional career, Letunov appeared in three seasons for the University of Connecticut, registering 95 points (35 goals, 60 assists) in 105 career games. Letunov was named to the Hockey East Second All-Star team twice (2015-16, 2017-18) and also was named to Hockey East's All-Rookie Team in 2015-16, after scoring 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 36 total games. That year, he was the first Husky to record a 40-point season since the 2011-12 campaign and set rookie records in goals (16), assists (24) and points for the school.

The six-foot-four, 193-pound native of Moscow, Russia was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues (2nd round, 52nd overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft. On June 20, 2016, the San Jose Sharks acquired Letunov along with a sixth-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft and a third-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft.
