Sharks Recall Grosenick, Reassign Stalock & Tierney to San Jose Barracuda

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Troy Grosenick (@TGrose1) from the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) and reassigned goaltender Alex Stalock (@Stalock32) and center Chris Tierney (@Tierney71) to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda). Stalock was assigned to the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment.
Grosenick, 26, has compiled a 7-4-3 record with a 3.03 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage in 16 games with the Barracuda this season. Grosenick made his NHL debut on Nov. 16, 2014 at Carolina and turned aside all 45 shots he faced for his first career NHL win and shutout. He became the first Sharks goalie with a shutout in his NHL debut, and his 45 saves were the most by a San Jose goaltender in a shutout in team history. In two career NHL games, Grosenick has posted a 1-1-0 record, with a 1.53 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage.
The six-foot-one, 185-pound native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, was signed by San Jose as a free agent on April 8, 2013.
Stalock, 28, has posted a 2-5-0 record with a 2.98 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage in 10 games with the Sharks this season. In 59 career NHL games, Stalock has collected a 23-19-5 record with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.
"We want Al to be able to get some playing time," said Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer. "With the Barracuda playing in San Jose this week, it offered us the opportunity for him to get some minutes."
The six-foot, 190-poind native of St. Paul, Minnesota, was originally drafted by San Jose in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
The 21-year-old Tierney has recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) and 14 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Sharks this season. In 79 career NHL games, he has compiled 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) and 20 penalty minutes, while posting 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) in 29 career AHL games.
The six-foot, 195-pound native of Keswick, Ontario, was originally drafted by San Jose in the second round (55th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
