Sharks Sign Forward Frazer McLaren

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed forward Frazer McLaren (@Frazermclaren68) to a one-year contract.

McLaren, 27, registered one assist and 62 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League (AHL) last season.

The forward has recorded 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) and 678 penalty minutes in 245 career AHL games with Toronto and Worcester, and has added four goals, seven assists and 264 penalty minutes in 102 career NHL games with the Sharks and Toronto Maple Leafs. McLaren played for Worcester/San Jose from 2008-12 and ranked near the top in several Worcester franchise categories, including penalty minutes (577, 1st) and games played (217, 7th).

Before turning pro, McLaren spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), compiling 103 points (56 goals, 47 assists) and 712 penalty minutes in 318 games with the Portland Winterhawks and Moose Jaw Warriors.

The six-foot-five, 230-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was originally drafted by San Jose in the seventh round (203rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
