BARRACUDA ANNOUNCE 2020-21 TRAINING CAMP DETAILS, ROSTER AND EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud AHL (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), today announced its initial roster for their 2020-21 Training Camp, which will be held in Arizona at the Ice Den. In addition, the team announced training camp details and an exhibition schedule.

Due to health and safety protocols, all practices are closed to the media and the general public until further notice. Barracuda training camp will be conducted from Jan. 11 to Feb. 4.

Media members seeking specific players and coaches should check with Nick Nollenberger and the Barracuda media relations department in advance. Due to the unique circumstances, some requests may not be accommodated.

The full training camp roster will be broken up into two squads (Group A & B) and their off-ice schedules will vary throughout camp.  For an initial Barracuda training camp roster, click here.

The Barracuda are tentatively scheduled to play seven preseason games, starting on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the San Diego Gulls (Great Park Ice Arena, Irvine, Ca.). A full preseason schedule can be found below.

AHL TV will not be available during preseason play

The Barracuda’s full 2020-21 regular-season schedule will be released at a later date.

About the Sharks Audio Network:

The Sharks Audio Network will provide an unmatched resource for consistent and unique Sharks and Barracuda-related audio programming, content and game broadcasts. The 24-hour, seven days a week audio feed will be available via the Sharks+SAP Center App and online at sjsharks.com. San Jose Barracuda games with Nick Nollenberger (@NickNollen) on the play-by-play call, will also air on the Sharks Audio Network providing the opportunity for all Sharks fans to keep an “ear” on the “Future Sharks” as they hone their skills in the American Hockey League. In the event that Sharks and Barracuda games have overlapping broadcast times, the Barracuda broadcast will shift to the San Jose Barracuda platform, also contained within the Sharks+SAP Center App and at SJBarracuda.com. Weekly Sharks Audio Network programming will also include Barracuda-focused content, programs, and updates once the American Hockey League is underway.

AHL Update:

The Barracuda are set to start their sixth season on Feb. 5, 2021. American Hockey League President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Howson announced on Jan. 4, 2021, that the 2020-21 AHL season will include 28 teams when it gets underway on Feb. 5.

The AHL will operate in five divisions this season. Further details, including schedule formats and playoffs, are still to be determined. In 2020-21, the Barracuda will once again compete in the AHL’s Pacific Division which boasts a league-high eight teams including the San Diego Gulls (Anaheim Ducks), Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas Golden Knights), Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton Oilers), Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona Coyotes), Ontario Reign (LA Kings), Colorado Eagles (Colorado Avalanche) and Stockton Heat (Calgary Flames).
