BARRACUDA CLIPPED BY EAGLES, 3-2

Mar 22, 2023

Loveland, CO – The San Jose Barracuda (26-31-1-4) would open the scoring on the power play and hold a lead through two periods but fall to the Colorado Eagles (34-20-5-3) at the Budweiser Events Center, 3-2.

In the first, Tristen Robins (13) would open the scoring 8:26, shooting short side on Justus Annunen on the power play. The tally would stand as the only goal in the first period and gave the Barracuda their first lead of the back-to-back set.

However, the second period would see the Eagles tie the game at the 2:16 mark with a power-play goal of their own as Charles Hudon (23) would fire one behind Aaron Dell from the faceoff circle. It would not take long for the Barracuda to see another power play opportunity and Robins (14) would laser one behind Annunen once more with some quick passing from Brandon Coe and Shakir Mukhamadullin. The assist would be Mukhamadullin’s first in a Barracuda sweater while the goal would earn Robins his first professional multi-goal game. The Barracuda would carry the lead into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

The third period would see the Eagles score two unanswered goals, the first coming off the stick of Cederic Paré (9) at the 5:58 mark as he tapped in a loose puck to beat Dell. Colorado would pick up their second power-play goal of the night as Hudon (24) would pick up his second of the night and 16th power-play tally of the season with a near identical shot as his goal in the first period.

Both the Barracuda and Eagles would score twice on six power-play opportunities, with San Jose being assessed 30 penalty minutes to Colorado’s 50.

Dell would finish the night making 29 saves on 32 Eagles shots while Annunen would stop 32-of-34 from the Barracuda.
