Jan 12, 2024

San Jose, Ca. - The San Jose Barracuda (11-17-5-0, 27 pts.) gave up three unanswered goals on Friday at Tech CU Arena, and despite cutting the deficit down late, would fall 3-2 to the Bakersfield Condors (14-10-1-2, 31 pts.).

In the loss, Ethan Cardwell became the second player on the Barracuda to reach double-digit goals when he lit the lamp in the opening 20 minutes, snapping a six-game goalless drought. Nathan Todd (1+1=2) also finished with his sixth multi-point game of the year.

In the first, the Barracuda opened the scoring as Kyle Rau spotted Cardwell (10) in front of the net from below the goal line and the rookie forward fired a shot under the arm of Condors’ goalie Olivier Rodrigue. The assist for Rau was his 299th point in the AHL.

In the second, after the Barracuda took their first penalty, Seth Griffith (4) snapped in the tying goal just 14 seconds into the man-advantage from between the circles at 7:47.

Tied at 1-1 in the third, the Condors took their first lead when Ben Gleason (6) extended his goal streak to four games while shorthanded and then Dylan Holloway (1) notched a goal at 3:15 on the power play. With the extra attacker on, Todd (8) managed to bat in the Barracuda’s second goal, but it was too late as it came with 37 seconds left in the game.
