Loveland, CO – The San Jose Barracuda (11-20-7-0, 29 pts.) jumped out to an early lead on Sunday afternoon at the Blue Arena, then later erased a two-goal deficit, before ultimately falling 6-4 to the Colorado Eagles (18-14-4-1, 41 pts.). With the loss, the Barracuda have now dropped nine in a row (0-6-3-0).

In the first, on the first shot of the game, Ethan Cardwell (12) opened the scoring at 1:06 as he fired in a pass from Nathan Todd who had stolen the puck from Eagles’ goalie Justus Annunen on the end-wall. 39 seconds later, Jason Polin (1) would tie it up with his first in the AHL. 28 seconds after that, Ben Meyers (8) ripped in the go-ahead goal on Colorado’s second shot, ending Georgi Romanov’s evening just 2:13 into the contest. After the Barracuda were called for their first minor, the Eagles would extend its lead on a goal by Ivan Ivan (7) at 7:53.

In the second, the Barracuda would cut the lead back down to one as Tanner Kaspick (4) worked around Annunen from just above the crease and backhanded in his first goal in 20 games. Then, at 13:59, Kyle Rau (2) snapped in a rebound off a point-shot from Artem Guryev to tie the score at 3-3. 59 seconds after the Barracuda had tied it, Oskar Olausson (8), who scored the overtime game-winner on Saturday, would score to put the Eagles back on top, 4-3.

In third, Colorado would extend its advantage as Riley Tufte (13) banked in a rebound at 6:47 and then Spencer Smallman (5) notched an empty netter 16:38. Brad Marek (5) would cut the lead to 6-4 at 18:34 but it was too late.
