BARRACUDA STUNG BY HEAT 3-1

San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (20-30-2-2) got 40 saves from Zach Sawchenko but mangaged just one goal and were downed by the Stockton Heat (36-11-4-1), 3-1, on Tuesday night at the SAP Center.

 

Brinson Pasichnuk (1) notched his first goal of the year in just his second game at 1:32 of the first period.

 

Matt Phillips (25) tied the game in the first with his fourth goal over his last three outings and now has four goals against the Barracuda in eight games.

 

Justin Kirkland (15) snapped an 11-game goalless drought and collected his first game-winning goal of the year by breaking the deadlock in the third period.

 

Zachary Sawchenko (4-8-0) made 40 stops in his first AHL action since Feb. 3.

 

Dustin Wolf (28-5-3) collected his AHL-leading 28th win by making 25 saves and is now 6-0 against the Barracuda this season.

 

• After the loss the Barracuda have now dropped nine-consecutive games to the Heat at home since the 2018-19 season.
