Roadie Wrap: After a 5-2 win over the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday afternoon in Henderson, the Barracuda wrap up its five-game road trip in Bakersfield on Saturday night. Dating back to the 2019-20 season, the Barracuda have dropped nine (0-6-2-1) in a row and 11 of its last 12 at the Mechanics Bank Arena, getting outscored 39-15 during the nine-game stretch. Saturday’s meeting will be the first matchup on the eight-game season series.

Shake & Bakersfield: The Condors snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday, upending the Henderson Silver Knights 3-2 at home, and will conclude its six-game homestand on Saturday against the Barracuda. Bakersfield boasts the AHL’s 29th power play (15.2%), and 20th penalty kill (76.7%), and is fifth in the AHL in penalty minutes per game (16.33). In addition, Bakersfield is 24th in the league in goals for (2.93) and 10th in goals against (3.00). 

Rookie Arrivals: Rookies Thomas Bordeleau (8), Tristen Robins (7), William Eklund (4), Danil Gushchin (3), Brandon Coe (2), and Ozzy Wiesblatt (1) have accounted for 25 of the Barracuda’s 46 goals scored this year (54%). The most among any rookie class this season. Wiesblatt (Rd 1, 31st overall), Bordeleau (Rd 2, 38th Overall), Robins (Rd 2, 56th Overall), Gushchin (Rd 3, 76th Overall), and Coe (Rd 4, 98th Overall) were all part of the Sharks' historic nine-forward draft class in 2020.

Killin’ It: Despite giving up a power play goal on Friday and Wednesday, the Barracuda still rank first in the AHL on the penalty kill (89.0). In addition, San Jose has now scored on the power play in a
season-long four consecutive games (5/15=33%), and five of its last six.

El Cap: Barracuda captain Andrew Agozzino extended his point streak to six games on Friday as he posted a season-high three points (1+2=3) in the team’s 5-2 win over Henderson. Agozzino now leads the group in points (15), assists (11), shots (44), power-play assists (6), and insurance goals (2). The 10-year vet is just three goals shy of 200 in the AHL.

Montana Tough: Barracuda defenseman Montana Onyebuchi recorded his first career Gordie Howe hat trick on Friday, and in the process snapped a 54-game goalless drought. Onyebuchi has already matched his rookie season point totals (1+7=8) in 32 fewer games and has points in four of his last five games (1+6=7) after not recording a point in his first nine appearances of the year.
