Saturday Sizzle: After a 3-2 loss at home on Friday to the Bakersfield Condors, the two teams turn around on Saturday and square off in Bakersfield. The Barracuda are 1-2 against the Condors and 1-0 at the Mechanics Bank Arena.

No Fun Friday: The Barracuda gave up three unanswered goals on Friday at Tech CU Arena, and despite cutting the deficit down late, would fall 3-2 to the Condors. In the loss, Ethan Cardwell became the second player on the Barracuda to reach double-digit goals when he lit the lamp in the opening 20 minutes, snapping a six-game goalless drought. Nathan Todd (1+1=2) also finished with his sixth multi-point game of the year.

A Star is Born: Danil Gushchin was named the Barracuda’s representative for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Tech CU on Wednesday. The two-day event will be held at Tech CU Arena in San Jose on Feb. 4-5, 2024. The second-year pro is first on the Barracuda in points (29), goals (12), and shots (128), and is T-second in power-play goals (3) and T-third in assists (17). Gushchin joins Thomas Bordeleau, Joachim Blichfeld, Jake Middleton, Francis Perron, Josef Korenar, Barclay Goodrow, Ryan Carpenter, Troy Grosenick, Danny O’Regan, Antoine Bibeau, and Rudolfs Balcers as players to represent the Barracuda at the AHL All-Star Classic.

Condors Check: The Condors had both of its games in San Diego this past weekend postponed due to a water main break at the Pechanga Arena but enter Saturday having won its last three games and have points in a season-high eight straight (6-0-1-1). Bakersfield has held its opponents to two or fewer in five of its last six wins.

King Leon: Barracuda blueliner Leon Gawanke has 18 points (5+13=18) over his last 19 games. Among league defenders, he is T-fourth in points (25), goals (7) and T-fifth in assists (18). A season ago, as a member of the Manitoba Moose, he led all league defenders in power-play goals (7) and was T-first in total goals (20).

Love Shak: Barracuda defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin scored on Saturday and now has 16 points (4+12=16) over his last 16 outings. The former Devils first-rounder is T-sixth among league blueliners in points (23), T-fourth in power-play points (10), and T-fifth in total assists (18).
