Back in Bakersfield: The Barracuda continue their four-game road trip in Bakersfield on Saturday night as they square off with the Condors for the fifth time this season. The Barracuda 1-2-1-0 versus the Oilers affiliate this year, falling in the most recent meeting on Jan. 11 (4-5 OTL) at the Mechanics Bank Arena.

 

Most Recent Matchup: Despite giving up a season-high 51 shots at Bakersfield, the Barracuda held a 4-1 lead in the second period, but the Condors scored the final four goals, including the overtime game-winner at 2:45 from Connor Carrick. Aaron Dell was outstanding, making 46 saves in the hard-luck loss. Carrick finished the game with three points (2+1=3) and Olivier Rodrigue improved to 2-0 versus the Barracuda by making 26 stops. The loss was the second game of a home-and-home and the day after the Barracuda beat the Condors 5-2 at Tech CU Arena.

 

White Hot: Barracuda forward Colin White extended his points streak to five games (2+6=8) on Wednesdey, collecting a goal and an assist. It marks the longest of his pro career. The veteran forward was signed by the Sharks to a one-year, two-way contract on July 25, making his Sharks debut on Jan. 27 against Pittsburgh.

 

Road Woes: The Barracuda have dropped a season-long five consecutive games on the road (0-4-1-0) after a pair of losses in Colorado earlier this week and are now three games below .500 (8-11-1-1) away from Tech CU Arena. The Barracuda are a -9 away from home, compared to a +24 at home.

    

Hot Pot: Despite missing the last four games while on recall with the Sharks, Andrew Poturalski still ranks first in the AHL in scoring (45), T-fourth in assists (27) and power-play goals (8) and T-eighth in goals (18). The 31-year-old skated in three games with the Sharks, notching an assist in the final game before the 4 Nations Faceoff break. Poturalski has four points (2+2=4) in four games against the Condors this season.

    

Pick of the Litter: The Barracuda signed forward Rem Pitlick for the remainder of the 2024-25 season last week. During his five-year pro career, the native of Ottawa, Ontario, has dressed in 132 games in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, and Blackhawks, collecting 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists), and 54 penalty minutes. Additionally, he has skated in 148 AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals, Chicago Wolves, Laval Rocket, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and Rockford, posting 125 points (55 goals, 70 assists), 90 penalty minutes, plus-25 rating. The 27-year-old was part of the multi-player, three-way trade between the Sharks, Pens, and Habs that included Erik Karlsson. In that deal, he was sent from the Canadiens to the Penguins.

 

Luca Lightning: 20-year-old defender Luca Cagnoni has five assists in his last four games, all coming on the man advantage. He now leads the league in power-play points (22), second in power-play assists (16), and T-fifth in power-play goals (7). Among league blueliners, he is second in goals (11), and T-third in points (32).

 

Cuda Killer: Condors captain Seth Griffith has 41 points (20+21=41) in 37 career games versus the Barracuda. The 12th-year pro is in his fifth season with the Bakersfield. Entering Saturday, Griffith is pacing the Condors in points (41), goals (15), points-per-game (.98), shooting percentage (27.8%), assists (26) and power-play assists (10). The native of Walaceburg, Ontario, has points in his last five (2+5=7) and 11 (4+7=11) in his last nine outings.
