Fire and Ice: On Monday, the Barracuda close out its eight-game season series with the Coachella Valley Firebirds (Seattle Kraken), continuing its four-game road trip. The Barracuda are 0-5-1-1 versus Coachella Valley, falling by one goal in each of the last three matchups. At Acrisure Arena, SJ is 0-1-1-1, earning a point in the last two games.

 

Texas Tornado: On Saturday, San Jose’s most recent game, the Texas Stars scored four goals in the first 20 minutes, including three on the power play and one shorthanded. The Stars would tack on three more in the second, rolling to a 7-2 win. Tristen Robins and Adam Raska scored the Barracuda’s only two goals while the Stars got tallies from Marian Studenic, Mavrik Bourque, Antonio Stranges, Riley Tufte, Rhett Gardner, Ryan Shea and Thomas Harley. Aaron Dell took the loss, allowing five goals on 23 shots in 29:01 of action, while Strauss Mann allowed a pair on the first three shots he saw, and would finish the game by making nine saves on 11 shots. Remi Poirier collected the win, stopping 26.

 

Most Recent Matchup: In the last meeting against the Firebirds on March 4 at Tech CU Arena, the Barracuda held a 4-3 lead in the third, but CV tied the score on a Jimmy Schuldt tally at 9:21 and won the game at 17:31 when Tye Kartye buried the go-ahead goal. Andrew Agozzino, Ozzy Wiesblatt, Jeff Viel and Martin Kaut all scored for the Barracuda, while Kole Lind, Jeremy McKenna, Alex True, Schuldt and Kartye scored for the Firebirds. Chris Driedger claimed the victory while Strauss Mann suffered the loss.

  

Cuda Chronicles: The Barracuda enter Monday six points behind the Tucson Roadrunners for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division, with a game in hand. Tucson lost on Saturday in Bakersfield, 2-1. SJ has four more road games left on its schedule and six total. The Barracuda will face Tucson in its final two regular-season games on April 14, 15 at the Tucson Convention Center.

 

Heat Check: After dropping three-straight in regulation for the first time this year, the Coachella Valley Firebirds enter Monday having won four in a row. The Firebirds kicked off a six-game homestand on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime win versus the Colorado Eagles as Kole Lind potted his second OTW of the year and ninth overall game-winning goal. The Firebirds sit just two points behind Calgary for the top spot in the AHL, with a game in hand. CV will play five of its final seven regular season games at Acrisure Arena, having won seven in a row at home and boast the best home winning percentage in the league (.774). The Firebirds rank first in the AHL in goals-for (3.74), third in goals-against (2.69), ninth on the power play (21.4), and eighth on the penalty kill (82.6).
