On the Road Again: After a 6-3 loss to the Roadrunners on Saturday in Tucson, the Barracuda wrap up its two-game set with the Coyotes' affiliate on Sunday and continue their five-game road trip. The Barracuda are now 0-3 against Tucson this season after Saturday’s loss, being outscored 15-7. After a 2-0 start on the road, the Barracuda are 0-3 in their last three road games, getting outscored 18-5.

 

About Last Night: The Barracuda went on the penalty a season-high 10 times on Saturday, allowing for the Roadrunners to erase a three-goal deficit. Despite giving up a season-high three power play goals, the Barracuda still rank second in the AHL on the penalty kill (88.4). San Jose’s power play finally awoke on Saturday, netting a pair of goals for the first time this year.

 

Prickly Pair: The Barracuda (1st: 22.93) and Roadrunners (2nd: 22.38) rank first and second in the AHL in penalty minutes per game entering Sunday. San Jose is first in the AHL in majors (13) while Tucson is T-first in 10-minute misconducts (5). On Saturday, the two teams combined for 60 minutes in penalties and 230 penalty minutes in the last two games.

 

Run and Gun: Roadrunners forward Michael Carcone ranks fifth in the AHL in scoring (19) and T-fifth in assists (13). The third-year Roadrunner is pacing his club in points, assists, goals (6), penalty minutes (35), power-play goals (4), and shots (48). He has a team-high eight points (3+5=8) in three games against the Barracuda this season and in eight career games against San Jose, he has notched six goals and seven assists.

 

Rookie Arrivals: Rookies Tristen Robins (5), Thomas Bordeleau (4), William Eklund (2), Brandon Coe (2), Danil Gushchin (2) and Ozzy Wiesblatt (1) have accounted for 17 of the Barracuda’s 34 goals scored this year (50%). The most among any team’s rookie class this season. Wiesblatt (Rd 1, 31st overall), Bordeleau (Rd 2, 38th Overall), Robins (Rd 2, 56th Overall), Gushchin (Rd 3, 76th Overall), and Coe (Rd 4, 98th Overall) were all part of the Sharks' historic nine-forward draft class in 2020.
