On the Road Again: After a 3-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors to conclude its six-game homestand on Sunday, the Barracuda begin a five-game road trip on Wednesday in Henderson against the Silver Knights (Golden Knights). SJ is 3-0 against Henderson after a 5-2 win at Dollar Loan Center on Nov. 25 in the last meeting. The victory was the first in franchise history in Las Vegas/Henderson (Regular season/postseason: 0-10). After Wednesday, the two teams will play four more times.

 

Sluggish Starts: The Barracuda have given up the first goal in each of its last nine games, going 5-4 during the stretch. The Cuda have allowed the first goal in 15 of its 24 contests this year and are 8-6-0-1 when doing so. 

 

Spiky Fish: The Barracuda rank second in the AHL in penalty minutes per game (20.38), and first in majors (19) and minors (147). Jeff Viel is second in the AHL in minors (17), penalty minutes (74), and T-fourth in majors (4). William Eklund is T-third among rookies in minors (9).

 

Rookie Arrivals: Rookies Thomas Bordeleau (11), Tristen Robins (8), William Eklund (8), Danil Gushchin (6), Brandon Coe (2), and Ozzy Wiesblatt (1) have accounted for 35 of the Barracuda’s 68 goals scored (51%). The most among any rookie class this season. Wiesblatt (Rd 1, 31st overall), Bordeleau (Rd 2, 38th Overall), Robins (Rd 2, 56th Overall), Gushchin (Rd 3, 76th Overall), and Coe (Rd 4, 98th Overall) were all part of the Sharks' historic nine-forward draft class in 2020. Bordeleau is T-first amongst rookies in goals, and T-third, along with Robins, in power-play goals (4). 

 

Powering Up: After seeing its nine-game power-play streak came to an end on Friday, the Barracuda got back on track by going 2-for-5 on Sunday in the win over Bakersfield. The Barracuda who once sat at 32nd in the AHL on the power play, now rank 16th (20.8%) in the league. Entering Wednesday, San Jose has scored on the man-advantage in five consecutive road games, including going 1-for-3 in the win over the Silver Knights on Nov. 25.
