Friday Frenzy: The Barracuda close out its two-game homestand on Friday with the first game of a home and road with the Bakersfield Condors. Friday is the third matchup on the eight-game season series and the third game against the Oilers affiliate over the last six. The Barracuda are 1-1 versus the Condors this season, and 0-1 at Tech CU Arena.

Tepid Tuesday: The Barracuda gave up a full-strength, power play, shorthanded, and empty-net goal on Tuesday, dropping its third consecutive game against the Ontario Reign. Danil Gushchin managed to score the Barracuda’s only goal in the third period, but it was too little, too late. The Reign got a pair of goals from Sam Fagemo, a power-play goal from Charles Hudon and a shorty from Akil Thomas, and 36 saves from Erik Portillo en route to the win.

Tigers of the Sea: The Barracuda will transform into the Tigres Del Mar on Friday, the second of three specialty nights of the year celebrating Spanish Heritage and Latin X. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Tigres Del Mar pin as part of the three-part collectible series. The Barracuda will also be wearing specialty jerseys and there will be exclusive merch available in the pro shop, along with a mariachi band, face painting, and more.

A Star is Born: Danil Gushchin was named the Barracuda’s representative for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Tech CU on Wednesday. The two-day event will be held at Tech CU Arena in San Jose on Feb. 4-5, 2024. The second-year pro is T-seventh in the AHL in scoring (29) and goals (12) and is third in shots (124). On the Cuda, he is first in points, goals, and shots, and is T-second in power-play goals (3) and T-third in assists (17). Over his last 13 games, he has 14 points (6+8=14). Gushchin joins Thomas Bordeleau, Joachim Blichfeld, Jake Middleton, Francis Perron, Josef Korenar, Barclay Goodrow, Ryan Carpenter, Troy Grosenick, Danny O’Regan, Antoine Bibeau, and Rudolfs Balcers as players to represent the Barracuda at the AHL All-Star Classic.

Condors Check: The Condors had both of its games in San Diego this past weekend postponed due to a water main break at the Pechanga Arena but enter Friday having won its last two and have points in a season-high seven straight (5-0-1-1). Bakersfield ranks 11th in the AHL in goals-against (2.92), holding its opponents to two or fewer in four of its last five wins. The Condors are 7-5 on the road this season and have won its last two on visiting ice including a 4-2 win at Tech CU Arena on Dec. 30.

King Leon: Barracuda blueliner Leon Gawanke has 18 points (5+13=18) over his last 19 games. Among league defenders, he is T-fourth in points (26), goals (7) and assists (18). A season ago, as a member of the Manitoba Moose, he led all league defenders in power-play goals (7) and was T-first in total goals (20).

Love Shak: Barracuda defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin scored on Saturday and now has 16 points (4+12=16) over his last 15 outings. The former Devils first-rounder is T-sixth among league blueliners in points (23), T-fourth in power-play points (10), and total assists (18).
