Marlies Marching In: For the first time, the Barracuda host the Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs) on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Tech CU Arena. The Barracuda split a weekend set with the Marlies in Toronto back in November. The Barracuda, who began a season-long seven-game homestand on Wednesday, enter Saturday having won their last three games on home ice and are now T-second in the AHL in home winning percentage (.750). The Marlies are in the midst of a nine-game road trip that began on Jan. 11 in Utica and will wrap up in Bakersfield next Saturday.

Wednesday’s Win: The Cuda improved to 6-0 against the Coachella Valley Firebirds on Wednesday, at Tech CU Arena, earning a 4-3 come-from-behind shootout win. In the victory, former Firebirds Andrew Poturalski and Jimmy Schuldt scored, and Jack Thompson notched his first of the year. In the shootout, Danil Gushchin and Lucas Carlsson potted goals, and Aaron Dell made a pair of saves to earn his first win of the year.

Toronto Time: After dropping the first meeting 3-0 on November 23 at the Coca-Cola Coliseum, the Barracuda bounced back the following day and earned a 2-1 shootout win over the Marlies. In the W, Danil Gushchin tied the score halfway through the third period and scored the game-winner in a shootout. Gabriel Carriere made 31 saves to earn the win while Matt Murray suffered the loss, allowing one goal on 26 shots.

One of the club’s two All-Star selections, the nine-year vet is now first in the AHL in points (41), T-third in power-play goals (7), T-fourth in assists (24), and goals (18). The New Hampshire alumni is a two-time AHL Calder Cup Champion and scoring champion.

Calling Collin: The Sharks assigned rookie forward Collin Graf to the Barracuda on Friday after a 10-game stint in the NHL. Despite not playing in the AHL since Dec. 29, the 22-year-old is T-third among rookies in scoring (26) and first in assists (20). Graf T-second on the team in points, assists, and shorthanded goals (1).

Luca Lightning: Rookie blueliner Luca Cagnoni recorded his first three-point game (1+2=3) of his career on Sunday and now has four points (2+2=4) over his last two games after not collecting a point in nine. Among league defenders, he is T-third in points (26), T-second in goals (10), T-second in power-play goals (6), third in power-play assists (10), and second in power-play points (16). Among all skaters, the 20-year-old is second in PP points. Cagnoni missed his first game of the season on Wednesday.
