Home for Henderson: The Barracuda wrap up their two-game weekend series with Henderson Silver Knights (Golden Knights) on Saturday for Pink in the Rink Night presented by Kaiser Permanente. After Friday’s win, the Barracuda are now 4-1 versus the Knights this season and have scored at least five goals in each win.
Home Cooking: The Barracuda, who are in the midst of a season-long seven-game homestand, enter Saturday having picked up points in their last six at Tech CU Arena (5-0-1-0) and have wins in their last two. San Jose’s .762 home winning percentage is second-best in the AHL, only behind Calgary’s .771 home winning percentage.
Friday Fun: The San Jose Barracuda matched a season-high with four third-period goals, running past the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday night at Tech CU Arena. In the win, Shakir Mukhamadullin finished with a game-high three assists, and Collin Graf (3+8=11) and Andrew Poturalski (3+6=9) extended their point streaks to six and five games respectively. Luca Cagnoni also sniped in his 11th goal of the year and seventh on the power play and Vitek Vanecek, in his first AHL actions since 2022, made 22 saves to pick up the win.
Hot Pot: Andrew Poturalski picked up an assist on Friday and now has nine points (3+6=9) in his last five games. Since Dec. 15, the nine-year vet has six multi-point games, including a pair of four-point efforts, and 24 points (9+15=24) during the 17-game stretch. One of the club’s two All-Star selections, Potsy is pacing the league in points (45), T-third in power-play goals (8) and assists (27), and T-sixth in goals (18).
Calling Collin: The Sharks assigned rookie forward Collin Graf to the Barracuda last Friday after a 10-game stint in the NHL. Despite not playing in the AHL since Dec. 29, the 22-year-old entered last weekend T-third among AHL rookies in scoring and first in assists. The freshman forward collected a goal and an assist on Friday, extending his points streak to six games (3+4=7). Among rookies, the 22-year-old is first in assists (22) and fourth in scoring (30). Graf has nine points (2+7=9) in five games versus the Knights this season.
Luca Lightning: 20-year-old rearguard Luca Cagnoni notched his 11th goal of the year on Friday and seventh on the power play. Among rookies, Cagnoni is first in power-play points (17) and power-play goals (7), T-first power-play assists (10) and T-seventh in points (26). Among all skaters, he is third in power-play points.
Sparkling Special Teams: The Barracuda rank first in the AHL on the penalty kill (87.3%) entering Friday and T-third in shorthanded goals (7). Additionally, the club boasts the league’s fifth-best power play (21.4%). Versus the Knights, the Barracuda are four-for-20 on the PP and 19-for-20 on the PK.
