MANITOBA SCORES FIVE GOALS IN FIRST 40 MINUTES, WIN 5-2
Nov 11, 2017SAN JOSE, CA - The Manitoba Moose (8-4-1-1) defeated the San Jose Barracuda (4-6-0-1) on Saturday, taking a commanding 5-0 lead through the first 40 minutes of play and securing their fourth consecutive victory by topping San Jose 5-2 at SAP Center.
The Moose jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on only nine total shots. Jack Roslovic (8) put away the first goal of the game on the Power Play at the 12:23 mark and assisted Mike Sgarbossa (6) just four minutes later to secure an early two points on the day. Manitoba forward JC Lipon (3) added the third goal of the period for the Moose with just over two minutes remaining, scoring off assists from Cameron Schilling and Jansen Harkins.
Manitoba continued to dominate the game on both sides of the ice in the second period, adding two additional goals while holding the Barracuda scoreless through 40 minutes of play. Roslovic (9) was once again the first to find the back of the net in the period, scoring off an assist from Sami Niku at the 11:55 mark. Harkins (2) added a goal of his own with just under a minute left in the period to put the Moose ahead 5-0.
San Jose found some offensive success in the final period but failed to get within range of any potential comeback. Kevin Labanc (1) gave the Barracuda their first goal with a wrist shot off a Daniel O’Regan assist just under six minutes into the period. With just over a minute left in the game, San Jose’s Brandon Bollig (3) scored a final goal to give his team two on the day, bringing the final score to 5-2.
Manitoba netminder Eric Comrie (5-2) earned the victory with 36 saves on 38 shots, while San Jose’s Troy Grosenick (4-3) took the loss with 11 saves on 16 shots in 40 minutes of play
